Turning Anxiety into Triumph: From Microsoft Invite to Full-Time Offer

Mr Z,Australia National University,Master of Computing

In December 2023, Mr. Z completed his undergraduate studies and began applying for Australia’s February 2024 graduate recruitment season. However, he soon realized that he was not receiving any interview invitations, which left him feeling extremely frustrated and anxious.

By July 2023, he saw many of his peers already securing ideal offers. Unlike him, they had started planning internships as early as their first year, building up substantial work experience. The stark contrast placed tremendous pressure on him and made him realize that aside from a few school projects, his résumé lacked any real-world professional experience — the biggest shortcoming in his job search.

On the recommendation of a classmate, he learned about the JobABC and joined a newly launched Machine Learning project. Despite his initial apprehension, he decided to take the leap.

During the interview, the CTO candidly pointed out his shortcomings, which at first left him feeling disheartened. At the same time, however, the CTO also provided invaluable career planning advice that helped him regain direction and peace of mind.

Throughout the one-month internship, he faced significant pressure. Confronted with unfamiliar concepts and tasks, he worked tirelessly to adapt and learn, determined to make up for his shortcomings through practice. The JobABC CTO not only personally helped him refine his résumé but also encouraged him to apply for Microsoft’s Graduate Program.

Soon after, he successfully received an Online Test invitation from the Microsoft Graduate Program. Although he was unable to advance to the next round due to insufficient preparation in Leetcode, he was not discouraged. On the contrary, this experience made him much clearer about the areas he needed to improve and strengthened his determination to keep moving forward.

Through this internship, his technical foundation, resume presentation, and overall career awareness improved significantly. Most importantly, he began to develope the confidence needed to communicate with employers and compete in the job market.

With continuous guidance and referrals from his mentor, he ultimately secured a full-time backend developer role. From initial confusion and anxiety to finding his direction and achieving employment, he proved through action the value of persistence and hard work.

His story is a vivid example of how JobABC helps students break through career bottlenecks. From having zero local experience, to engaging in high-intensity practical projects, to finally securing a full-time job, JobABC has consistently provided professional guidance and resources to help students transform uncertainty into achievable outcomes.
